Colegio Nueva Vision

Colegio Nueva Vision (New Vision School) is a partnership between Perimeter Church in Johns Creek, GA, Provee (a Guatemalan NGO), and Nueva Vision Church in Rincon Grande, Zaragoza, Guatemala. In February of 2023 we began school with grades K-6. We had 65 students for the 2023 school year. We have two sessions per day with younger kids in the morning and older kids in the afternoon.

Rincon Grande is an agricultural community and most of the families earn their living in the fields. Although they’re known as the land of the strawberries, they also grow onions and tomatoes as primary crops. Allowing the older kids to attend school in the afternoons will allow them time to help the family in the fields the mornings. Having said this we have asked the parents to make education the priority, making sure they get enough rest to perform well in school.

How did we choose Rincon Grande? First we wanted a place where we can make a difference and since Rincon Grande is a small well-defined community we believe it is ideal. Second, we looked for a pastor who has a vision and Pastor Lester Guerrero has a big vision for his community. With these two questions answered we also looked for a Guatemalan partner who was already working in education and Provee fits our needs. They are already working with children and parents to help advance education in communities around San Lucas, Guatemala. We believe we have some great partners and a vision that will shine the light of Jesus on the education of the children of Rincon Grande. We hope you will join us in this project!
